JCS centrally manages the financial infrastructure for a number of different businesses including 15 racecourses, The National Stud, Jockey Club Estates, Table Tennis England, England Squash, British Fencing and Badminton England.
Finance & Accounting (F&A) has been a major area of investment and JCS has built a centrally managed platform that provides a state-of-the-art solution for the whole business. Cost reduction, cost control and management control were all key considerations and the solution JCS has implemented and developed has been successful across all key areas of the business.
Microsoft Dynamics is the core central system, regarded by many as the most robust and effective system in the market. The Jockey Club has worked with Microsoft to effectively bespoke the system to the specific needs of a business in the world of sport, to the point where JCS is now confident to state that it has one of the most effective F&A systems and processes across the whole of UK sport. JCD is now delighted to be able to offer that effectiveness to other sports businesses and charities both inside and outside of horseracing.
Proactis is JCS’ Purchase-to-Pay application which comprises integrated purchase requisition, invoice approvals and employee expenses from within one application. Proactis enables easy tracking of the approval status and location of purchase requisitions and the approval stage of invoices. The system’s functionality provides the ability to build hierarchies for approvals and to check against budgets, ensuring greater financial control through reduced maverick spending and enhanced visibility of purchasing commitments.
F&A is managed in our Shared Services Centre in Cheltenham, currently with 18 full time staff in the team across purchase ledger, sales ledger and treasury transactions.
